Parent-School Partnership: Cooking Class Experience at Westlink

25-02-2026

Discover how Westlink parents contribute to the school community through creative cooking classes, teaching students collaboration and real-life skills.

A Special Cooking Class at Westlink

At Westlink, we believe learning is strongest when school and families work in partnership. Recently, we were delighted to welcome a parent into our school to lead an engaging cooking class, turning a simple recipe into a powerful lesson on community.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: The Art of Making Cookies

During this special session, students stepped into the role of little chefs to learn how to make chocolate cookies. This hands-on activity was more than just fun, it required students to master practical skills such as:

  • Measuring ingredients with precision.

  • Following steps carefully to ensure a delicious result.

  • Experiencing the satisfaction of creating something meaningful from start to finish.

Parents as Active Contributors

Moments like this extend learning far beyond traditional textbooks. Students practice collaboration, responsibility, and essential real-life skills while seeing their parents as active contributors to the school community. This involvement reinforces a vital shared message: learning is a collective journey. We are deeply grateful to the parents who continue to support and enrich school life in such meaningful and delicious ways.
