IB Middle Years Programme

In the international stream, students aged 11 to 15 continue their learning journey through the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).

Building on the foundations developed in the PYP School, students think critically, make connections across subjects and explore real-world issues through global contexts. With a strong emphasis on enquiry, interdisciplinary learning and international-mindedness, they develop the skills and mindset needed for academic success and lifelong learning.

Our curriculum

In Westlink, students aged 11 to 16 connect learning to real-world issues through the MYP is a framework. This includes eight subject groups and encourages interdisciplinary learning. Students develop skills in thinking, communication, research, self-management and collaboration. The programme fosters curiosity, global awareness and personal growth.

MYP Service Learning MYP Personal Project

MYP Service Learning

With service learning students are empowered to connect classroom learning with real-world action. Through identifying community needs, planning and carrying out service activities, and reflecting on their impact, students develop empathy, leadership and a sense of social responsibility.

Students realise their ability to make a difference, locally and globally, while building key collaboration, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making skills. Service learning nurtures compassionate, active citizens who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.

MYP Personal Project

The Personal Project is the culminating experience of the MYP, where students independently explore a topic they are passionate about. Over the course of several months, they research, create a product or outcome and reflect on their learning journey.

This project allows students to apply the skills they’ve developed throughout the programme, especially self-management, research and critical thinking, while demonstrating personal growth and academic independence. It is a celebration of student voice, choice and agency.
