Our curriculum

The International Baccalaureate Organization Diploma Programme is designed for students who want to grow academically, personally and globally. Building on the foundations of our PYP and MYP, it provides continuity in how students inquire, think critically, lead and apply their learning in meaningful ways.   Students engage in a broad and balanced programme of study, selecting courses across six subject groups, with opportunities to pursue areas of strength and interest at different levels of challenge. Alongside their academic studies, students complete the DP Core — Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) — experiences that encourage originality, resilience, reflection and big-picture thinking.   Westlink’s Diploma Programme will support ambitious learners with diverse strengths, personalised pathways and clear future goals.

Subject groups

Students study a broad and balanced programme by selecting courses across six subject groups:

  • Group 1 Language A: students develop advanced communication, analytical writing and literary critique skills while exploring cultural perspectives through courses such as English A, Vietnamese A and Korean A.
  • Group 2 Language B: students build real-world communication skills in an additional language, with opportunities to study English or Spanish at varying levels of proficiency.
  • Group 3 Individuals and Societies: through subjects such as business management, economics, psychology or history, students use research, data and theory to understand people, systems and societies.
  • Group 4 Sciences: through biology, chemistry, physics or environmental systems and societies, students learn to hypothesise, investigate and apply evidence-based thinking.
  • Group 5 Mathematics: students choose pathways that align with their strengths, interests and future goals, developing skills in reasoning, data analysis, modelling and problem-solving.
  • Group 6 The Arts: students create, and critique through visual arts, or may choose an additional subject from another academic area.

Core elements

All Diploma Programme students complete three core components designed to deepen thinking, build independence and connect learning beyond the classroom:

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
Students explore how knowledge is constructed across disciplines, cultures and perspectives, developing the ability to think critically and question assumptions.
  • Extended Essay (EE)
Students undertake an independent research project on a topic of personal interest, culminating in a 4,000-word academic paper that reflects university-style inquiry and scholarship.
  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)
Students engage in experiences beyond academics through creativity, physical activity and service, planning initiatives, collaborating with others and reflecting on their personal growth and impact.
