PYP specialist gallery walk showcases creativity and confidence

07-03-2025

Westlink’s first Specialist Gallery Walk gave students the chance to take charge of their own learning journey, proudly guiding parents through creative spaces and sharing their growth.

The PYP Specialist Gallery Walk was a joyful celebration of learning, where students took the lead, planning their own schedules and walking their parents through different specialist spaces across campus.

In the art section, families explored a stunning exhibition featuring projects from every year group. Students collaborated across grades to create vibrant works, including a fluro-lit jungle room inspired by Henri Rousseau, a tiger acrylic painting by Intro grades, and a jungle collage from Grade 1 students using oil pastels. Older students demonstrated their understanding of depth by incorporating foreground, midground and background in their artwork.

A major highlight was the interactive wing display, inspired by American artist Kelsey Montague. Each student contributed a feather designed using a painted value scale and infused with their own artistic style. The “All About Me” self-portraits and optical art drawings were equally engaging, revealing each student’s personality, creativity and technical growth.

Special thanks to Miss Olivia, our PYP Art Teacher, for her guidance and inspiration throughout the process. The gallery walk beautifully captured the imagination, effort and confidence of our learners.

Stay tuned as we continue to showcase moments from PE, Vietnamese and other specialist areas in the coming weeks.
