Where Nutrition Science Meets Creative Critical ThinkingThe Grade 8 Learning Exhibition was a meaningful showcase of how understanding grows when students are given the space to think, connect, and create - transforming complex data into real-life wisdom.Researching "What Should We Eat?"Each student group explored the guiding question “What should we eat?” Through rigorous research and discussion, they examined the biological necessity of specific nutrients like Vitamin C and how they support long-term health. Moving beyond theory, students designed daily menus that balanced nutrition, practicality, and creativity. This process allowed them to translate academic knowledge into informed, real-life dietary choices.Mastering Systematic Thinking and Visual CommunicationThe exhibition went beyond simply displaying information. Students created engaging graphics that required them to gather data, filter essential insights, and organize ideas into a coherent system. This challenge strengthened their ability to:Synthesize complex information from multiple sources.Think systematically about health and wellness.Communicate ideas through simplified, high-impact visuals.Peer EngagementA highlight of the event was the heartfelt peer engagement. Students moved through the displays, leaving thoughtful notes of appreciation like “The recipe book is great” and “What these girls did is brilliant.” At Westlink, we believe that learning how to give praise and value different perspectives is just as vital as mastering academic content. It was a true celebration of growth, collaboration, and the human side of education.
